The sin

“Oh, the sin! Such a terrible germ . This sin stained and perverted the man. It perverted the love for ourselves, which before the fall of the first created, was a pure, natural love. But through sin this love, like an impetuous river, overflowed its borders and caused and still causes great catastrophes. Love became egocentric, savage. Passions dominated the man. Everything for ourselves, nothing for the others, let them starve, be thirsty, be naked and exposed to thousands of dangers and needs. The hot iron doesn’t burn the selfish man. Locked in his shell like a snail,  he takes care only of himself.  For him, the others are only means of exploitation for satisfying his debauch and his love for vanity and money/gold.”( Metropolitan Augustin of Florina)

"O, păcatul! Groaznic microb. Acest păcat l-a întinat şi l-a stricat pe om. A stricat şi iubirea faţă de noi înşine, care înainte de căderea celor întâi zidiţi, era o iubire curată, firească. Dar prin păcat iubirea aceasta ca un râu năvalnic a ieşit din hotarele lui şi a pricinuit şi pricinuieşte mari catastrofe. Iubirea a devenit egocentrică, sălbatică. Patimile stăpâneau. Totul pentru noi înşine, pentru sinele nostru, nimic pentru alţii, să flămânzească, să înseteze, să fie goi, să fie expuşi la mii de primejdii şi nevoi. Pironul omului egoist nu-l arde. Închis în cochilia sa  ca un melc, se îngrijeşte doar de sinele său. Pe alţii îi consideră doar mijloace de exploatare pentru a-şi satisface desfrâul, iubirea de slavă şi iubirea de arginţi. Pentru ca să sugă sângele lor."
